Through a combination of mentoring and consulting I work closely with dental hygienists, dentists, dental practice owners, and health sectors analyzing specific oral health promotion objectives. I focus on the practical application of solutions to overcome challenges within a dental team and oral health as a whole, and identify the reasons for these challenges and for oral health inequalities. Through the development of communication models, specific to localized oral health promotion requirements, I guarantee I will enhance the dynamics of dental hygiene, oral health, and aid in reaching objectives. The communication models are tailored to be used with patients, the public, and other dental and health professionals. My vision is to ensure we exceed expectations in oral health promotion with who ever I work with.

Having completed extensive training under the Guildhall and Lamda examinations for speech and drama, working within role play, and furthering my experience to become a trained television presenter. I pride myself on seamlessly amalgamating my knowledge in dentistry with the power of my voice to captivate audiences. Communication is everything in what I do, and gaging my presentations to the varied audiences is key. I have been fortunate enough to have had such extensive stage experience from the age of 5, that I am able to adapt the delivery of my presentation and verbal to fit in with the audience in the moment. I am dedicated to continuing to refine my ability to ensure the message delivered to my audiences will have the intended impact. I sincerely love this part of my work.

In 2008 I embarked on my first peer reviewed paper for the British Society of Dental Hygiene and Therapy. I discovered a passion that lies within me for writing and research. We all continue to be life long students, personally and professionally, and I believe it is our sole responsibility as professionals to take every available opportunity of furthering our studies. Attending courses enriches our learning. Yet being involved in research and writing enriches our learning to a greater degree. I have consequently proceeded to engage in other peer reviewed papers for FGDP The Royal College of Surgeons, The Primary Dental Journal, and my recent research on communication in oral health promotion under O’hehir University. Other non peer reviewed articles can be sited in various dental magazines.

Having been fortunate enough to travel extensively with my profession, I have had the opportunity to build an extremely valuable network of remarkable colleagues. We continue to communicate regularly and are actively involved in many activities related to our profession and oral health promotion.
